Breaking families ruining the lives of kids

Increasing instances of lack of emotional and ethical bonding between married couples are not only depriving their kids of love and affection of their parents and family but also ruining the future of innocent kids.

Take the case of 43-year-old Smitha Das, a well-educated woman living with 39-year-old small time actor Manoj after separating with her husband. She took care of her 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter.

Smitha had obtained an order from the court restraining her husband Siddarth Das from visiting even the kids. She lived with her partner and the kids at Celebrity Club in Shameerpet. However, trouble began after Smitha’s son lodged a complaint with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) against Manoj saying the latter is regularly beating him and his sister. He also told CWC that they cannot live either with their mother or her relatives anymore.

Consequently, CWC officials shifted the boy to a protection home and summoned Smith to appear before them on July 18 along with her daughter for inquiry. Meanwhile, the boy informed his father Siddarth Das over the phone about the developments.

Siddarth, who lives in Visakhapatnam, arrived in Hyderabad in the early hours of Saturday and reached Shameerpet to take his daughter away to safety. But Smitha noticed him and informed the same to Manoj. An enraged Manoj picked up an air rifle from his house and shot in the air in an apparent attempt to terrify and chase away Siddarth.

Siddarth ran to safety and then filed a complaint with the Shameerpet police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Manoj. Police also handed over Smitha’s daughter to CWC who shifted the girl to Child Protection Home.

In another shocking case, Eluru police arrested a 47-year-old man for sexually exploiting his two stepdaughters. He impregnated both his daughters – aged 17 and 16 respectively.

What is more shocking is the fact that he committed the heinous offense with the help of the girls’ mother.

According to police, the accused married the girls’ mother after her husband died some time ago. The accused is a close relative of the woman. Since the woman did not have a son, her second husband wanted to marry another woman to have a male child.

However, it is alleged that the woman refused the proposal and instead offered her two daughters to the man to have male child. On coming to know the shocking unethical happenings, police registered a case and arrested the stepfather and the woman under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

A similar heinous and disturbing incident was reported earlier in the week from Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh where a man was arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter.

It is time the successful governments, religious and spiritual organizations and the society pay serious attention to find a formidable solution to stop the growing unethical trend to save the future of kids.
