Forest officials finally trap elusive leopard near Hyderabad Airport
Forest authorities finally trapped the leopard that was moving around Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad on Friday.
The big cat was trapped in a cage set up by the forest officials, bringing a sense of relief to people as the presence of leopard had created in villages around the airport.
Initially, the leopard has been shifted to Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad. After check-up and monitoring its condition, it will be released to Amrabad Tiger Reserve, forest officials said.
The Forest Department had set up five cages and 20 trap cameras as part of the operation to catch the elusive big cat.
The leopard was first sighted near the aircraft repair center in the airport area in the wee hours of the day near Gollapalli under Shamshabad municipality in Ranga Reddy district. The airport staff alerted the forest department which launched an operation to catch it.
