Telangana: Four cops suspended on charges of custodial torture

Medak district superintendent of police, Rohini suspended four police officials including the Circle-Inspector and Sub-Inspector of Police of Medak police station on charges of custodial torture leading to a man’s death.

The suspended police officials include Madhu, Station House Officer, Rajasekhar, Sub-Inspector of Police, Pavan Kumar and Prashant – both police constables.

The suspension comes following the death of Khadeer Khan at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday night.

It may be recalled the tainted police officials picked up Khan suspecting his hand in a theft case. They subjected him to ‘third degree’ torture resulting in damage of both his kidneys. Even as Khan accepted to confess to the crime he did not commit unable to bear the torture, police caught the actual thief.

Fearing action, police let loose Khan and ‘gave a free advice’ to his wife to take him to hospital. However, Khan succumbed to the injuries on Thursday night. Higher ups swung into action as the news of Khan’s death became viral. Police registered a case of suspicious death instead of ‘murder’ against the erring cops and ‘launched an enquiry’.
