Cyber crooks rob over Rs. 587 crores in two years from Telangana

Cyber criminals have robbed a whopping Rs. 587.59 crores in two years from Telangana, according to National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP).

However, police could recover a meagre of Rs. 12. 01 lakhs out of the whopping money looted by cyber crooks.

According to the data, victims lost the money between July 16, 2021 and June 12, 2023. The victims from Telangana have made as many as 1,27,144 complaints in this connection.

The NCRP also said that it is receiving as many as 700 phone calls a day from Telangana. Of these, 250 callers are new victims while the remaining calls are related to old complaints seeking to find out the progress.

As many as 190 banks and e-Valets are working together to freeze the accounts of the cyber crooks immediately after receiving complaints through NCRP from the victims of cyber crimes.
