Phone-tapping case: Cops recover parts of hard discs in Musi River

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the pone-tapping case recovered some parts of the hard discs under the Musi River bridge near Nagole area falling under Uppal police station limits.

It may be recalled the Telangana police has arrested two additional superintendents of police – Bhujanga Rao and Tirupathanna and former deputy superintendent of police, Praneeth Rao in the phone-tapping case.

It may be recalled the three officials are accused of tapping the phones of Congress leaders, several officials and businessmen while they worked in the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) during the BRS regime.

However, a case was registered after Praneeth Rao destroyed the evidences of phone-tapping and took away the hard discs from the computers in the SIB office.

During the probe, SIT found the involvement of a few officials including the then SIB chief Prabhakar Rao, the then Hyderabad task force DCP, Radha Kishan Rao and a television channel operator Shravan Rao.

The arrested officials disclosed to the SIT officials that they have dumped the hard discs under the bridge built on Musi River near Nagole. Immediately, the SIT officials recovered parts of the hard discs and sent them to forensic lab for analysis. The SIT is now on the look out for Prabhakar Rao, Radha Kishan Rao and Shravan Rao, who are believed to have left India. Look out notices have already been issued against them.
