Tirupati Railway Station upgradation progressing at brisk pace: GM

South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain has said the upgradation of Tirupati Railway Station is progressing at brisk pace.

Tirupati being the abode of Lord Venkateswara, there has been significant growth in the passenger traffic at Tirupati railway station. Keeping this in view, the SCR has taken up the upgradation work.

Started in May 2022, the work is scheduled to be completed by February 2025, Arun Kumar said adding that the work is being monitored at all levels to ensure timely completion of the project.

The SCR GM said that the upgradation work is aimed at catering to the requirements of rail passengers for the next 40 years.

As part of the upgradation, a new Station building is coming up on the South side of the existing station building, while two new air concourses would be constructed to handle both incoming as well as outgoing passengers, he said. The air concourses will be of 35 meters width and will connect all the platforms of the station and also both sides of the Station buildings, the GM said adding that the works are taken up with utmost caution to ensure least inconvenience to the passengers and train movements in the station.
