We are neither right nor left, we are nationalist: RSS
For all these years, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been called as right wing organization and RSS never tried to deny it.
But on Wednesday, a senior functionary of the RSS, despite being associated with the organization for over three decades, suddenly wakes up and claims that the organization is ‘nationalist’ and ‘neither right or left wing’.
“We are neither right nor left wing. We are nationalist. Sangh is only going to work in the interest of the nation,” he said while speaking at the Deendayal Memorial lecture on the topic ‘Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh: Kal, Aaj aur Kal’ organised by the Ekatma Manavdarshan Anusandhan Evam Vikas Pratishthan.
Though it is not clear what prompted the RSS general secretary to make this particular observation, it is said the rift between RSS top brass and BJP top two is growing compelling the former to carefully distance itself from the political party.
Sources in the Sangh Pariwar say that this is the reason RSS chief, Sar Sanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat has been giving statements indicating that the organization is not in support of BJP in ‘many issues’.
One classic example is his statement wherein, RSS chief said that it is not proper to ‘search for Shiv lings in every mosque’.
In October last year, Dattatreya Hosabale had expressed concern over rising income inequality and unemployment in the country, asserting that poverty is posing as a serious challenge in front of the nation.
The latest statement seems to be the outcome of growing discontent among the people against BJP which is trying to connect everything to religion.
“Today RSS is at the centre of national life. We will continue to do the work of individual building and society building”, he claimed.
