Son of Bodhan Ex-MLA is a habitual rash driver

Police find he is the accused in 2-year-old accident case in Jubilee Hills

Another case of rash and negligent driving resulting in the death of an infant has been registered against Mohammed Raheel Amir aka Sahel, son of former Bodhan MLA Mohammed Shakil Amir.

Jubilee Hills police reopened probe into the two-year-old case in which a fake accused was substituted to protect Sahel. It is alleged that the then police officials misused their official capacity to protect Sahel.

It may be recalled Sahel was arrested on April 8 in connection with a rash and negligent driving when he rammed his BMW car into the barricades in front of Praja Bhavan on December 24, 2023.

Sahel and three others travelling with him escaped from the accident site leaving behind the car. Panjagutta police officials allegedly let off Sahel and booked a person who works as a driver at the former MLA’s house. Sahel escaped to Dubai to join his father, who was already staying there.

A total of 16 people were booked and five persons were arrested including inspectors of Panjagutta and Bodhan police stations who helped the accused.

Sahel returned to Hyderabad on April 8 and was picked up by the police. During questioning, police found that he was involved in another case of rash and negligent driving in Jubilee Hills police station limits two years ago in which two-month-old baby Ranveer was killed.

Police said that Ranveer’s mother Kajal Chowhan and her relatives sold balloons and other articles near Jubilee Hills Check Post. She was crossing the divider on February 17, 2022 when a speeding car knocked them. While three women including Kajal suffered injuries, Ranveer died in the accident.

Police said the occupants of the car fled the place. Later, a youngster named Afran surrendered before the police claiming responsibility for the accident. The Sub-Inspector, Chandrasekhar, who investigated the case, tried to save Sahel. Sources said the SI concocted evidence to show that Afran was driving the car. However, higherups of the police department uncovered the truth and launched enquiry against the police officials involved in the matter.
