Yet another jolt for BRS as Ranjit Reddy, Danam join Congress

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which was shunted out of power by the people in the recent assembly elections, continue to suffer jolts after jolts.

While many leaders have already left BRS and either joined Congress or BJP, the latest jolt comes in the form of Chevella MP, Ranjit Reddy and Khairatabad MLA, Danam Nagender. Both the leaders quit BRS and joined Congress on Sunday.

Ranjit Reddy said he joined Congress in view of the latest political developments in the state, while it is not new for Nagender to change loyalties. He quit Congress during 2004 assembly elections and joined Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

However, he resigned from TDP as Y S Rajasekhara Reddy of Congress formed government in the state. But voters taught him a befitting lesson in the Asifnagar by-election. Voters defeated him after he was exposed as a power-hungry politician. Nagender again switched loyalty in 2018 by joining BRS. Now, he returned to Congress fold since BRS lost power and the grand old party stormed into power in Telangana.
