Complainant sentenced to 2 years in prison

Court finds him guilty of committing Perjury

In what can be seen as a lesson for those who try to misuse the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), a local court has convicted a complainant for turning hostile during the trial.

According to a release of the ACB director general, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court at Nampally in Hyderabad has convicted P Narsing of Secunderabad after he was found guilty of committing perjury.

The release said, Narsing had made a complaint in 2007 against a government official. Based on it, ACB laid a trap and arrested the corrupt official. However, during the trial, Narsing turned hostile by deviating from the complaint. Consequently, the court acquitted the accused official in 2016.

Subsequently, the prosecution filed a case of perjury against Narsing. He was convicted after the trial. The court awarded two years of simple imprisonment and directed him to pay a fine of Rs. 3,000 for the offenses punishable under sections 193 Indian Penal Code read with Section 340 of Criminal Procedure Code.
