Cops seize Rs 23 crore assets amassed through narcotic drugs trade

Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) along with Shadnagar police seized a whopping Rs 23 crore worth assets amassed by two accused by indulging in narcotic drugs trade.

TSNAB director Sandeep Shandilya has said the two accused – Ramesh, constable in the prohibition and excise department working at Kamareddy and his partner Gundumalla Venkataiah of Shabad – have amassed the assets.

TSNAB and Shadnagar police arrested the duo on December 25 while selling two kilo grams of contraband alprazolam. The NDPS Act provides for seizure of assets amassed through narcotic drugs trade.

Accordingly, police began identifying the assets amassed by the duo. During the probe, police found four house sites in Shadnagar, 21.28 acres of agricultural land in Shadnagar mandal, 13.04 acres of land in Shabad mandal in the name of Venkataiah, 2.22 acres of land in the name of his wife and cash balance of over Rs 4 lakhs in three bank accounts. Police also found one car and over Rs 2.2 lakh cash in two different bank accounts in the name of constable Ramesh. All the assets and cash worth about Rs 23 crore have been attached under the provisions of NDPS Act.
