Three including wife held for husband’s murder

A woman in Telangana’s Siddipet town got her husband killed after the latter turned into a transgender and began harassing his wife for the custody of their child.

Police arrested three persons including the woman for their role in the murder. The arrested include Veda Sree, Boyini Ramesh and Ippala Sekhar. Search is on to nab three more absconding accused.

According to Telangana’s Siddipet police, Veda Sree of Boyi Galli in Siddipet was married to Daripally Venkatesh of Nasarpura in 2014. The couple was blessed with a girl child in 2015. Later, Venkatesh allegedly began harassing his wife for additional dowry. Further, she noticed changes in him, which eventually made Venkatesh transforming into a transgender. After changing into a transgender, Venkatesh changed his name to Roja and began harassing Veda Sree for the custody of their child.

Consequently, the couple has been living separately for the last seven years. In the meantime, Veda Sree, who worked as a private teacher for a living, developed intimacy with one Boyini Ramesh, police said adding that she hatched a plan to eliminate Roja with the help of Ramesh.

According to the plan, they approached P Ramesh of Siddipet. After negotiations, they agreed to pay Rs. 18 lakh for killing. Roja and paid Rs. 4.60 lakh as advance in two instalments. As per the plan, Ippala Sekhar of Nagarajupally made Roja consume liquor on December 11 at the latter’s residence. When Roja became fully inebriated, Sekhar along with two others smothered the transgender to death using a pillow. Initially, police registered a case of suspicious death. However, it turned out to be a murder during autopsy, which changed the direction of police investigation. Finally, police unearthed the conspiracy and nabbed three out of six accused.
