Gautam Adani meets Sharad Pawar, holds 2-hour-long discussion

Gossipmongers say the meeting could be part of BJP strategy

Even as the nation is left speculating about the “two political earthquakes” hinted by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Baramati MP Supriya Sule, industrialist Gautam Adani met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and held a two-hour-long closed-door meeting

Adani drove down to meet Sharad Pawar at the latter’s residence in south Mumbai on Thursday morning. The duo was closeted in a private meeting for nearly two hours, though what transpired is not known, sparking huge speculation in political and business circles.

The meeting came in the wake of Pawar’s recent statements opposing a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani Group affairs after the Hindenburg Research’s damaging expose. Later, after a furore in the national Opposition, Pawar apparently backtracked, diplomatically saying he would not oppose a JPC if other parties wanted it.

However, the meeting draws significance in the wake of turmoil gripping Maharashtra over the rumours surrounding Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar’s alleged attempts to split the NCP and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)”.

Gossipmongers believe that Adani could have met Sharad Pawar to negotiate an alliance between NCP, BJP and some other parties across the nation whose leaders pay heed to the old man’s advice.

They believe that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah could pull any string to ensure that they come back to power in the 2024 elections. However, people have to wait for some time to know what actually transpired between Adani and Sharad Pawar.
