Indians celebrate Bonalu in New Zealand

Bonalu, which symbolises the unique culture of Telangana, was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in New Zealand.

New Zealand Telangana Central Association organised the event at the Papakura Ganesh Temple, which witnessed an exceptional gathering of Indian, Telangana and Telugu community members.

New Zealand cabinet minister, Priyanca Radhakrishnan along with member of Parliament, Helen White graced the event.

The festivities were filled with cultural extravaganza, including soul-stirring drum performances and the enchanting recitation of matras by the esteemed priests, led by Priest Chandru and his team.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with approximately 1000 participants who came together to pay their respects and seek blessings from Mahankaali.

The New Zealand Telangana Central Association, under the guidance of its founder, Kalyan Rao Kasuganti, and core members, Ram Mohan Danthala, Swathi Payarakaya, Kiran Pokala, Laxman kalakuntla along with other dedicated committee members, meticulously organized and supervised the event to ensure its success.

BRS MLC and daughter of BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was scheduled to attend the event, unfortunately faced technical issues with her visa to New Zealand and was unable to attend in person.

However, she sent her warm Bonalu wishes to the participants through a video message, expressing her regret for not being able to join them physically.

Earlier on Saturday, Kavitha participated in the Bonalu celebrations in Brisbane, Australia.
