Madhapur SI, Constable held for bribery

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Saturday arrested two officers of Madhapur police station in Cyberabad Commissionerate on charges of bribery.

The arrested include Sub-Inspector M Ranjit Kumar and Constable M Vikram. ACB sleuths arrested the duo when Ranjit demanded bribe of Rs. 50,000 and accepted Rs. 30,000 through Vikram from the complainant M Laxman for not arresting him in a criminal case.

Officials said that the SI had earlier registered a case against Laxman on a complaint given by Sudha alleging that the former was building a house on a piece of land owned by her. The SI summoned Laxman and allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh for not taking coercive action. However, Laxman tried to bargain the deal for Rs 20,000 but the SI finally accepted to take nothing less than Rs. 30,000.

Consequently, Laxman approached the ACB and lodged a complaint against the SI. The ACB laid a trap and nabbed the tainted cops on Saturday. It might be mentioned here that ACB sleuths have arrested just a week ago Sub-Inspector of Meerpet police station, Boddupally Saidulu when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant for dropping action on a complaint.
