Sanitary Inspector of Peerzadigud municipality held for bribery

Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested K Janaki, Sanitary Inspector of Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation on corruption charges. The ACB officials also arrested office subordinate, R Saroja.

According to a release, the corrupt officials walked into the trap when they demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant to do an official favour of passing bills of the complainant.

The complainant, N Sriramulu, a municipal contractor, approached the ACB officials when the corrupt officials demanded Rs. 20,000 to process the bills and handover cheques to the complainant towards the supply of chappals and other material.

Based on his complaint, ACB officials registered a case and laid a trap. The contractor handed over the bribe money to Saroja on the instructions of Janaki. Immediately, ACB officials swooped down and recovered the tainted money. Fingers of both hands of Saroja yielded positive result.

ACB director general said in the release that the accused officials performed their duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Consequently, both the officials had been arrested and produced before the designated court.
