Rachakonda cops arrest two drug peddlers

Rachakonda police on Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers from Maharashtra and seized 500 grams of pseudoephedrine.

The drug ped peddlers have been identified as Shaik Fareed Mohammed Ali and Faizan Harun Mujahid of Pune in Maharashtra.

According to police, the two accused are part of a gang that smuggles drugs from Chennai to Australia and New Zealand via Hyderabad.

Police earlier arrested two smugglers of this gang – Mohammed Kasim and Rasuldeen – on December 11. Drugs weighing 8.5 kilograms was seized from them.

While so, Fareed and Faizan picked up another consignment of 500 grams from Chennai and reached Hyderabad to send it to the destination through courier when they were caught, police said.

Investigations revealed that they used to get the stocks of contraband from one Raheem in Chennai. The peddlers used to send the contraband through GVR International Courier Service in Hyderabad and Indofine Express Service in Pune.

Police said the peddlers confessed to have smuggled 70 kgs of pseudoephedrine during 2022. Sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), Malkajgiri and Nacharam police station arrested the drug peddlers.
