Telangana: Education institutions closed till Monday

As the incessant rainfall is likely to continue across the state, the Telangana government has decided to extend the holidy for all educational institutions in the state till Monday.
On Thursday, education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy had announced a two-day holiday for the schools and colleges considering the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning and intense rainfall across the state.
However, in view of the incessant rainfall, the chief minister’s office issued a release stating that the educational institutions will remain closed on Saturday too. Thus, the educational institutions will reopen only on Monday.
It may be mentioned here that Sabitha Indra Reddy drew flack on Thursday as she made the announcement about the holiday for schools through her tweet at 8.18 am. BJP leader Raghunandan Rao sarcastically thanked the minister for announcing holiday after all the children reached their schools braving the incessant rain.
Managements of some private schools too have expressed similar views. They said that the government knew in advance about IMD’s forecast. It could have made the announcement on Wednesday evening itself so that the kids did not face the trouble.
