‘Did I ask the dogs to bite!’ Asks GHMC Mayor

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi seems to have lost cool again, on Monday.

Referring to the increasing dog bite incidents, particularly the one in which four year-old-boy lost his life, the Mayor said, “Did I ask the dogs to bite? The dog bite somebody. But it’s been portrayed as if I asked the dogs to bite.”

Earlier, the Mayor made an insensitive comment in connection with the 4-year-old boy’s death due to dog bite, saying the dogs attacked the boy since they were hungry. Her comments invited criticism from various sections of people including film maker Ramgopal Varma.

While speaking to media persons on Monday, Vijayalakshmi said that people talk badly about women in politics. Their progressiveness is not tolerated.

She said that women are progressing in every field. Women should forge ahead despite hurdles.

It may be recalled Ramgopal Varma took to Twitter and asked K T Rama Rao to leave Mayor amid group of stray dogs and wanted to know why she is still clinging to her position.
