Hyderabad Metro fails to address drawbacks on Corridor-2

Reduces trips between JBS to MGBS

Poor occupancy, sustained losses on Corridor-2 of Hyderabad Metro seems to have forced the authorities to reduce the number of trips between JBS-MGBS route.

Though the Metro Rail promised to run services between the two points at a frequency of 5 minutes, it later increased the gap between each service to 7 minutes and then to 12 minutes. Now, the Metro Rail runs the services at an interval of 15 minutes.

The reduction in the number of services shocked the regular commuters of Metro Rail.

Frequent commuters of Metro Rail claim that certain drawbacks on this route are responsible for poor occupancy.

The commuters say that the Metro Rail authorities should run battery operated vehicles to and from the Metro stations in JBS, MGBS and the station near Secunderabad Railway Station.

It is difficult to attract travelers without free or cheap travel facility to reach the boarding points in the three railway and bus stations.

Passengers in these three points carry huge luggage and the private auto-rickshaw or cab operators loot the passengers to travel the short distance. Consequently, commuters do not prefer Metro rail for their travel between JBS-MGBS.

Further, there is another drawback in JBS, say the commuters. Those who wish to get down at JBS and board a metro train for Madhapur are compelled to walk a long distance up to Parade Grounds Metro Station. The Metro Rail authorities should come up with some innovative methods and facilities to address the drawbacks instead of just reducing the fares to attract the commuters.
