Four held for kidnapping CGST officials in Hyderabad

Couple of days ago, energy thieves assaulted Transco official in Old city and prevented the latter from discharging his duty, i.e. identifying and preventing energy theft.

Now it is the turn of tax thieves who abducted CGST officials, snatched their identity cards apart from demanding a ransom of Rs. 5 lakh for their release.

However, Rachakonda police acted swiftly and nabbed four of the five accused and rescued the officials.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, LB Nagar, Sai Sree, the CGST officials Anand and Mani Sharma went to inspect a scrap and welding shop in Krishna nagar area of Saroornagar police station limits. However, the shop owner along with four others snatched the identity cards of the GST officials, forced them to board a vehicle and whisked them away.

While on transit, the abductors thrashed the officials and demanded a ransom of Rs. 5 lakh for their release. Consequently, Mani Sharma informed his superiors about the abduction and ransom demand. The higher ups of the GST immediately approached the police.

Soon, police swung into action and launched vehicle checking. With the aid of technology, police identified the location of the kidnappers’ vehicle within 4 kms radius and nabbed them. In the melee, one of the abductors gave a slip to the police, while other four accused had been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway, the DCP said.
