There was cold war in the family: Sharmila tells CBI

Probe agency lists her as witness number 259 in Viveka murder case

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has added Y S Sharmila, daughter of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy as a witness in the murder case of Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
The investigation agency submitted Sharmila’s statement to the court listing her as witness number 259. It recorded the statement of Sharmila on October 7 last year in New Delhi.
Sharmila said in her statement that, “I don’t have any evidence, but there are political reasons behind the murder. Neither family issues nor financial matters are the reason. There is another major reason. Vivekananda Reddy was against Avinash Reddy’s family, which could have been the reason. Vivekananda Reddy came to our house a few months before he was killed. He asked me to contest from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. He told me that Avinash should not be allowed to contest from that constituency. He also told me that Jagan should be convinced by any means not to give party ticket to Avinash. I did not agree for his proposal since I knew Jagan would not support me. But I accepted to contest as uncle repeatedly pressurised me.”
CBI asked Sharmila why Vivekananda Reddy pressurised her instead of contesting himself. Replying to the question, Sharmila told CBI in her statement that, “He did not evince interest perhaps due to the fact that he lost the MLC elections. Further, gap widened after he contested against Vijayamma and it appears he was under the impression that he might not get party ticket. As far as I know, Avinash Reddy, Bhaskar Reddy and some other colse people were responsible for his loss in MLC elections. Though it appeared everything was fine, internally there was cold war in the family.”
