Is Kavitha being used as a pawn to nail Kejriwal in Excise Policy Scam?

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday secured the custody of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia till March 17.

This sudden development appears to have sent some specific signal to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, particularly the BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family.

The sudden development in Delhi made the BRS leaders tone down their threats. It may be recalled the BRS leaders have been criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi ever since the ED summoned BRS MLC K Kavitha for questioning.

Even as Kavitha’s questioning is scheduled for March 11, her brother K Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR left for Delhi on Friday evening.

While so, the BRS chief, KCR only said Kavitha might likely be arrested on Saturday. “Let them arrest her. We will not be afraid. We will fight legal battle and wipe out BJP in the next elections.”

However, the ED remand application in Manish Sisodia’s case indicates that Kavitha may not be arrested on Saturday. She may likely be allowed to leave Delhi after questioning and confronting with Manish Sisodia.

It appears the ED target is to bring Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal into picture and arrest him soon.

The ED told the court that, “There was conspiracy to frame the policy in such a manner so as to ensure illegal benefits to some persons. There was no suggestion from the public to fix 12% of wholesale profit margin to private entities.

“It was also submitted that there was a conspiracy which was coordinated by Vijay Nair and other individuals along with South Group in order to give extraordinary profit margin to wholesalers. The ED further said that Vijay Nair was acting on behalf of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.”

It becomes clear from the contention of the ED that the probe agency is trying to nail Kejriwal and send him behind bars.

There is an argument and in fact Congress and some other parties have been alleging that there is a secret understanding between BJP and BRS. As part of the understanding only BRS is expanding its activities.

On the other hand, AAP has become a serious threat to BJP in several parts of the country. It can be checked only with the arrest of Kejriwal and Kavitha might be used as a pawn, some analysts said.
