Telangana: Two cops held for bribery

Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Sub-Inspector (SI), D Sai Kumar and a police constable Ramesh when they demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 12,000 from an accused for releasing a two wheeler detained by the police in a cheating case.

According to information, Sai Kumar, Sector-3 SI demanded the bribe from a person named Raghavendra for releasing the vehicle. The SI demanded the bribe through constable Naresh. Initially, he demanded Rs. 15,000 but the victim negotiated it for Rs. 12,000.

Raghavendra, who was not ready to pay the bribe, approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB sleuths laid a trap and nabbed the corrupt cops when they accepted the bribe. ACB sleuths are searching the belongings and cabin of the SI in the police station.

Meanwhile, official sources said Sai Kumar belongs to 2020 batch and it is first posting for him at Begumpet.
